Why Become An Interior Designer?
Interior Design is a very fun profession. Being a professional Interior Designer is about Brains, Skills, Talent, and lots, and lots of Hard work. Being an Interior Designer is creative, innovative and interactive too. But that’s not all. Like any other profession it also has lot of responsibilities, decision making involved, but C’mon! Who would call it a work or a profession if it didn’t include all of that? Right?
You know the most fun part which comes with this profession is? Fun to create dream spaces for your clients. They can be restaurants, corporate spaces, fashion boutique, libraries, houses and much much more. The joy of seeing the space turn out the way it was planned on paper is no less than a magic, and trust me I am not over exaggerating, but that magic is simply BLISS!
The immense trust your clients have in you and in your expertise to hand you over their property & hard earned money is definitely No Joke. It is as serious profession as any other profession you may know, but more complicated yet very fun, and knowledge rewarding. And, you’ve got to be professional.
There are lot of benefits which comes to a Professional Interior Designer. Respect, wealth, credibility and much more. But apart from these, you get so much fun things to do while you’re on a project.
What are those? Let’s discover them together. . . Shall we?
#1 Can Turn Dreams Into Reality.
Dreams! They’re so magical. Isn’t it? We all have dreams and we all want them to get fulfilled somehow. But, how would it feel if you can actually fulfill your dreams by fulfilling others? Exciting, isn’t it? I mean who gets to do that?
Being a professional Interior Designer allows you to fulfill your client’s empty spaces into their dream spaces, and get paid for it too. And, with that you can fulfill your dreams. What more one could ask from his life? Can anything be greater than this? I hope Not!
#2 Get Paid For Helping Others.
Helping other is a good and a Nobel cause. But, it turns greater when its rewarded. Professional Interior designing is like a service which allows us to help people achieve their desired results through our vision & experience. And, if you find success which you will, if you have the determination for it, then you get paid for it too. That too with equally fair amount I must say.
#3 Advantage Of Being Always Around Highly Qualified & Skilled People.
Apart from the money, you get lot of knowledge being a professional Interior Designer. You have to interact with so many highly skilled as well as highly educated people on a daily basis. You learn from them and they do learn from you too. Abundance of knowledge trade is always there.
#4 It’s Not About “HAVING” Trust, It’s About Earning Trust.
Professional Interior designing is the kind of profession which teaches you to earn trust more than anything. Money does follow, but only if you have earned the trust of your client. And, by winning their trust you win lot of work through it. It is like building a wall brick by brick.
#5 No Need To Have Those Typical Work Shifts.
Best thing about being a Professional Interior Designer is, that you don’t need to work those typical 8 to 9 hours of shifts. I mean, I am not encouraging you to not work at all. But, you’re free to choose your work time as per your will and comfort. So every day is a Sunday and every day is a Monday as well. So you don’t have to worry about #Mondayblues and #Sundaychills anymore.
#6 Say Bye-Bye To Boring Clothes.
If you ask me I would say cloths don’t matter but for some they do. Being a professional Interior Designer they definitely don’t. And, I am pretty pretty sure about that. In my personal experience I have realized, that people truly hire you for your excellence, and the things you’ve achieved, and not for what you cover your body with.
Now please don’t say that I will opt for my PJ’s then. 🙂 You’re always free to wear what you and your skin feels comfortable in, and not the way society feels. To put it bluntly and literally, there is no uniform to this profession.
#7 Every Place Can Be Your Office.
With just a pen and a paper, you can make any place your workplace. And to top it up with a modern touch, you must have your laptop or maybe an iPad, and you’re good to go or even great to go. Who wouldn’t want that? Being so free of choices or I should say to make very few decisions like these saves you lot of time for the important and the real ones.
#8 You Don’t Visit Places, You Literally Talk To Them.
I have often received this comment from my friends and family whenever we have gone to a new place or any historic places and even old one for that matter. They look at the place, whereas I talk to the place. If they take 20 minutes to finish the tour of that place, I take at least an hour. And then their words come floating to my ears. Let’s go, you cannot be serious about this. An hour? Really? But I love it. Every place has a story to tell but one must be willing to listen to it.
#9 Get To Learn About Different Cultures Without Having To Actually Travel.
To me its like a blessing. Biggest advantage of this profession is that you must gather knowledge of all kinds of cultures and continents, without having to visit them. If you get a chance to visit, it is like “cherry on top.” But even if you don’t, you must have knowledge of it so that it helps you create designs when you have to design something related to that culture.
It inspires you to use it, or to blend it in other designs as well. That is a true mark of a professional. Remember? No knowledge is ever truly wasted.
#10 Your Vacations Becomes Your Education.
If you’re a professional designer, then usually when you travel it is never a vacation visit for you. But, it is always an educational visit. You bring back so much from that place through pictures, sketches, and stories from the locals. It is like never being able to give rest to your intelligence, and in my opinion one must not give it a rest either.
It should only go to rest when you rest in peace. (I bless you with a long and healthy life) What you bring back from that place will help others discover it through you. And, that’s always a good way of projection.
#11 Design Might Done Alone, But Executed Always In Team.
I know this, and you might know this too, that design is first an imagination, then becomes a creation and eventually it comes into existence. The first two is always achieved by an individual. It’s a stage of Ideation and then made possible through a group of people. It’s a collective efforts put by the team for a sole purpose. That is so intriguing.
These are few reasons which are majorly experienced by a professional Interior Designers across the world. Once you come on board to this fun train, there will come lot of destinations in your journey about which you would be eager to share it with the world, and trust me we would be waiting to hear them all.
